The fact that Leon Bridges was very successful on various platforms just proves it : there’s still room for Rhythm’n’Blues in its original form, in other words as it was made at the end of the 50’s and all the way through the 60’s : showing the great purity of the gospel tradition. With pride, this young Texan doesn’t play the mimicry card, nor the revival one, following in the footsteps of his idols, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles or Marvin Gaye. He does so with a disarming integrity and above all with a warmth in his voice, igniting the spark of soul inside of us.
